What a fun-tastic nite !!! Went ice skating @ Sheffield Ice Rink (near Sheffield Train Station)...it was fun and enjoyable...made us forget what we've been through all day long -working hard in the lab... and made us forget what lies ahead...heheheh tons of work to be done..Yeah, give us a break!!
This was my first time and I was quite nervous...hehehe I fell down twice...well actually more than that- but anyway, I managed to "skate" or walked on ice independently...not bad for a beginner!!! Give me another 2 hours, and I'll become a pro!!!
Will return for another "Disney-On-Ice" adventure......

In the most hectic phase of completing my assignments- I did something that was totally unbelievable and insane...I went to Dundee, Scotland to attend this so-called PhD Open Day at Ninewells Hospital & Univ of Dundee Medical School. The journey from Sheffield to Dundee took around 6 hrs....and there was no direct train. Departed from Sheffield at 6.50pm, arrived in Edinburgh about 10.45pm before continuing the journey to Dundee. It was snowing when we passed by Darlington and Durham and I was expecting snow in Dundee as well (based on the weather forecast). Finally, I arrived at Tay Bridge Station, Dundee at 00:50am...but, ....hmm there wasn't any snow!!! The weather was really wet and I expect it's just rained...That night, it rained heavily....really really heavy...and as I couldn't find any nearby accommodation well, I just spent the night at the station-pls don't tell my parents!! I was alone and it was so #*!^ cold that for the first time I wish I am in M'sia-well, not really, I wish I am in my cosy n warm bed....Tried to sleep and I managed to doze off a few minutes....
As early as 6.15am, I took the bus to the hospital where the event is to be held...before that , I managed to roam around the area...but it was so quiet and lonely that I almost can hear my own breathing...scary, huh? The programme started at 9.00am so that gave me a couple of hours to sleep! There were around 15 students who attended the programme, 12 home/EU students plus 3 overseas students(incl me..). It was great!!! We managed to meet 3 potential supervisors of our choice... personally...and seek the possible oppurtunities....But as I expected, quite limited opportunities for overseas students.....
Went back to city around 5pm...with 2 new friends, Savi (MRes Immunology-Strachclyde) n Bippin (MSc BioInformatics-Abertay Dundee), again we roamed around the not-so big city of Dundee and took a few snapshots...and of course, it was already dark!!! Managed to see the sea at dusk...and it was so beautiful....And finally it was time to go...The journey home wasn't direct :Dundee-Edinburgh-York. I had to spend the nite in York-luckily this time I managed to get a room in the Youth Hostel...the Yorkians were very friendly...(compared to those Scottish that I met) and that makes me felt a little bit safer....The next morning-I wake up at 5.00am to catched the train back to Sheffield....and finally, here I am, safe, crazy n bubbly as before!!!! Gheez...what an experience!!!
